MM&I at the top of the list for energy-efficient homes
"I was given the task of building an energy efficient home as one of my projects for the year on company property. I did much research over the course of 3 months and interviewed many companies claiming to have the best product for energy efficiency. I discovered MM&I Construction and Design, Inc. with the Insulspan SIP product and went to Nashville to meet with them.
They put me in a comfort zone as they talked about the benefits of the Insulspan SIP homes and how they could support me in the construction process. There were other SIP manufacturers out there but Insulspan seemed to have the best quality product.
Another thing that put Insulspan above some of the rest is that they would cut out the window/door openings and put wire chases in the SIP. This was very helpful as it required no cutting to construct the exterior of the home. It made sense to go with the Insulspan SIP because there is little or no waste during framing and the house is ultimately air tight which is the one of the main factors in an energy efficient home.
I have built 2 Insulspan SIP homes with MM&I and they were very helpful throughout the entirety of both projects. MM&I helped to correct all drawings and made sure that they complied with all local codes. MM&I provided assistance in planning each project from start to finish and quickly responded to any questions that I had. They walked me through step by step as to how the home should be constructed. They were also on site as the construction took place to help with any problems.
Upon the completion of both projects the homes received energy star certification which was very easy with the air tight SIP construction. Also, the Insulspan SIP home is much stronger than a stick framed house, it would take a lot to take one down. I highly recommend that anyone considering building an energy efficient home give MM&I a call. MM&I works great with Insulspan to guarantee a great home."

Potential Problems Avoided with MM&I's Great Onsite Communication
"MM+I was, and continues to be, of much help throughout our project. As an affordable housing prototype, our project involved much in-depth thought and discussion to make sure that all components worked together correctly. In addition, our status as recent college graduates meant that Kelly and Robert's real-world experience was greatly appreciated as problems and questions were encountered throughout. Being able to call from the jobsite for quick discussion of issues was an unexpected aspect of our relationship with MM+I which led to smoothing out potential problems in an intricate design." --

First Zero-Energy/Solar Habitat Home Build in Alabama

In the summer of 2008, Shoals Habitat for Humanity and the University of North Alabama Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity built the first zero-energy/solar Habitat home in Alabama. After much consultation, we decided that Insulspan was the best product both for its quality and its affordability.
Watching the truck with the walls and roof of the house pull up to the job site was exciting as well as a little overwhelming – we were used to traditional construction– but MM&I Construction and Design, Inc. advisor, Robert Costanza, quickly put everyone at ease. Under his direction, we had the walls of the house constructed in about four hours, and the roof went on in six hours.
We knew that few projects truly meet the goal of building a zero-energy home. However, a blower door test on the home registered

the lowest amount of leakage the company conducting the test had every recorded, and we felt closer to our goal. Thanks in part to MM&I, the home earned an Energy Star Five Star Plus rating, and most significant for our homeowner, the first power bill, for 45 days use, was -$6.00. MM&I helped us to build a truly safe, decent, and affordable home for a Habitat homeowner.
